Amazing
First light.
The night has fallen,
And it’s time
To try to make a living.
No around here
On this cold summer morning
And I open my eyes
And I see it,
It’s out in the open
It’s up in the air.
I’m ready, awake on arrival
I’m already there
For moments together,
Renewed, beginning,
And now, the sunrise -
It’s amazing.
And the days turn
To the flames and the fire.
I’m away
Home,
And I’m proud,
And I’m tired.
It’s one
Small
Step.
Avalon Fields
From the back door of the kitchen,
Silver days are slipping by.
Abandoned work, and a hammock swinging.
The fading light of summer skies.
Like the chimes on the porch step singing,
I’ll sway in the wind.
On your long list of things to be changed,
I wouldn’t know to begin.
You say I’m moving too slow, I should get up to speed
Then I get something right unintentionally.
You never see it coming -
That’s Mother Nature’s guarantee.
A falling star hits Siberia and
Wipes out all the trees.
Another blast from Mount Tambora, and
It’s out of our hands.
And the sea will not stop when Canute
Gives the royal command.
It hasn’t rained for a month and it’s 30 degrees.
Dark side of the moon, Day 73.
I don’t know what you want, I don’t know what you need,
But we seem to connect telepathically.
I’m far off dreaming -
A king saddles a horse, riding wild and free
Through the Avalon fields to the shimmering sea.
Bordeaux Post
Behind the smile, an ocean view
Older, happy – is that you?
We were friends so long ago,
And I’m stuck here, you’re in Bordeaux,
Sipping cocktails on the sand,
Summer parties, perfect tan,
Endless sunset silhouette -
Post to friends you never met.
You decide to make a move.
You have little left to prove.
A diamond watch, the latest phone -
A life defined by what you own,
And no-one dreamed of your success.
I don’t mean I’m unimpressed.
In show -and-tell and fairytales,
I somehow fell right off the rails.
Are you never coming home?
Riding with the roof down on a road unknown.
And your story turns out right?
Driving in the warm moonlight.
Cardigan Bay
A sparkle of sunlight on raindrop
windows,
A coffee in the morning when
everything’s quiet,
A winter rose, and late-bloom lilies,
And footprints in the field - the first day
of snow,
And everything’s alright.
A moment of parting, a hard wind.
The final scene in Casablanca -
‘Maybe not tomorrow – but soon’.
The whistle blows, and your team’s
winning -
Just waiting for the welcome when you
get home.
It’ll be alright -
The saplings will grow up to be strong.
In the moonlight,
The lifeboats return to the shore.
The cavalry came, an ocean blue -
Just travelling through,
And when I wake up, a bluebird’s
singing.
Sundays by the river, with nothing to do,
The summer stars, slowly drifting,
Dance to the music of time.
Hey maybe it’s alright -
Tomorrow, a sunrise and a change.
In the moonlight,
The dolphins return to Cardigan Bay.
Dominion
Scene one, a relevation
With one hand, the whole creation.
An innocent world with living creatures
Over this, you have Dominion.
As paradise falls in violation,
A rattling sword at the gates of Eden.
Land wars, eliminations
After all, you have Dominion.
In all the laws, enlightened words,
Where’s the moon and Mother Earth?
From Northern Lights to Angel Falls,
Nature wild beyond control.
Rain down -
All this power at your command.
Away now -
A wilderness within your hands.
Easy Life
Hey
Are you coming around?
Well maybe come now
'Cos I'm still on the ground
And I feel kinda ill
And I need some more pills
And I think it's a sign
That I need to unwind
I'm done
And we've barely begun
And I'm finding it hard
I can't even stary
Just want to lie low
Just don't want to know
I feel a bit rough
Do we need all this stuff?
Do you not have enough?
I only want an easy life
I don't need complications
I've been here before
I sign at the door
Don't know what it's for
There's all these demands
That I don't understand
And everything hurts
I don't want to work
It's out of control
Forever on hold
Just trying to get by
Just trying to decide
Is it time for a rest?
Why are things such a mess?
Why is everyone stressed?
I only want an easy life
I'll move to California
Echo
I see an open road,
The fall of autumn leaves,
And I know it's time to go.
I saw the final scene:
An iron winter sky
In a far-off foreign land.
And we know you'll be alright,
And you'll call us when you can.
I thought we were prepared,
But you'll make it on your own.
There's an echo in the air -
Come back, come back -
We're waiting here at home.
Euphoria
It started in silence that followed
A hard night
Of shadow words,
Imagined light.
A home in the rain and the storms
And the roar of the hurricane winds.
A promise of freedom
And the coming of spring.
Tonight, alive and furious
The battles are raging and wild.
The lights are on - there’s more of us -
In the chaos of a city on the rise.
And while you remember, they line up
A mile long.
The swell of an ocean to
A brave new world.
They rallied a thousand souls
To defy and carry on through.
Tidings of thunder,
On the satellite news.
And the night’s alive and furious,
And the spirit of a city undenied.
In the end, we win – euphoria
Over power corruption and lies.
And how do you know what’s real?
You see it, and feel -
Unaware of your fortune
When you’re coming home free.
Forever and all around,
Together and always now.
A miracle prayed for – found.
The light of the sunrise
Alive and within,
A vision of rainbows
In the colours of spring.
Fall To Rise
Around a mile about it,
And I heard it all around.
I’ll be fine without it,
Affirming all I found -
I’ll try to follow further down.
If we fight about it,
And our games are out of line,
And I race to doubt it -
In a way I wouldn’t mind.
So fire away - I’m far behind.
The days are long divided,
Before the mountains fall to rise.
And when I tried to shout it
There’s no surprise in no reply.
Tomorrow’s undecided
And all the mountains seem alive.
First Day
Wherever you go,
Whenever you fall,
If there's no-one you know
When you open the door,
If you're feeling afraid,
And you can't understand -
Try to be brave,
Take my hand,
And hold on.
Fortune
I can’t decide on what to do -
If you want to hide, it’s up to you.
Winning all the time is the latest fashion
This is what you want and it may not happen.
I’m trading in around the track,
Parading in and out the back,
Running over rides in the same old pattern,
Learning all the lines when it doesn’t matter,
I follow the shadows to the light
For a sign of fortune to arrive -
A racehorse, untethered, running wild,
In the wide open country, once in a while.
Leave
Summer, early morning,
And I know it’s time to go.
There’s a sign up in the corner
For a ride home.
I’m ready for the call-up,
And I’m standing in the line,
And I am not tired,
And everything is fine.
And your eyes half-close –
For a while anyway -
It’s a long hard road,
And they all look the same.
It’s a minefield,
And I don’t know what to say.
They’re running all the tables.
Money on the cards.
Giving up the diamonds,
And winning all the hearts.
I’m holding it together,
Staying on the side,
And I am not crying,
And everything is fine.
Hidden out of the way,
and
Written out of the game.
Oblivion Sunrise
It’s all revealed, and I
Had to leave, and I ran
Down a moonlit road
To the farmland fields,
And the sycamore trees.
For the whole of the summer,
Undefined, undercover,
And arriving unseen,
And divided between,
And I don’t know what it means,
Or where to go to believe.
In the wind in the wheels,
And the spring in the fields
And summer rain on the sea.
This is all meant to be.
Oblivion sunrise.
You only win sometimes.
I’m turning the lights down low
For the innocent souls
In invisible worlds,
And they’re calling.
There are times when I’m running
When I’m nowhere, and it’s coming,
And I never knew why -
Always some way behind.
Anyway, all the walls are surrounded.
There’s a white door,
And they’re waiting outside.
And it’s right about time,
But what is that in your eye?
Was it all a surprise?
Are you trying to hide
When you’re out on the side?
Will you send out a sign?
And remember the lines -
‘You’re going to win sometimes’.
Oblivion sunrise.
The light on the long ride home.
You’ll see it all through,
And forget them all soon,
And you’ll be alright.
Restless Soul
Hold the gates - I’m coming through.
Sign me up, I’ll join the crew.
A thousand prisoners on parole,
Along the lines of restless souls.
Still hanging around -
Just can’t settle down.
Who’s ahead and what’s the score?
And does it matter anymore?
Chase the rainbow, find the gold
Down the road of restless souls.
Sennen Cove
Terry George
Guards the coast
At Sennen Cove.
Untie the ropes
Aboard the boat -
It’s time to go,
And arrive
Riding the wind.
And way below -
You never know.
And they’re so close
To coming home.
There’s a low light
Of a storm in the air.
You’re out in the shadows -
I know you were there.
It’s a cold night,
They’re out on the waves.
They said he’s a hero,
And he was, in a way.
Small
I look up
On a winter night,
To the light of distant stars,
The home of silence,
And no one out there.
Only us, and all we are.
And I stand at the side of the road,
Where the light is falling
From a million miles away.
In a part of the world, it’s a dark night,
There’s a sparkle of gold in the starlight.
It’s a radical start, and there’s so much more.
In the haze, far beyond the horizon,
In the days of the dawn of Orion,
All the moons and the stars, and I feel so small.
Tomorrow morning you wake
In the cold light of late December,
And there’s snow on the ground.
Can it mean any more in the end?
A kind of isolation
In the worlds all around?
I imagine a night on the moon.
The Americans came,
And they’re planning to go up again.
So long to the dust and the earth rise,
The song of the rush and the war cries,
And the innocent dreams, and the rise and fall,
And the moons everlong coming over,
In the blue - Oberon and Europa -
All the light of the skies, and I feel so small.
Sound
All the time,
I want to feel like this,
All the time,
I want to feel like this:
In between, all around, in the seeds, and the sound,
In the light, in the ground, in the all-surrounding,
And the land is still, and you will remember -
In the wild and murmuring fields, in the earth revival,
In the mild and merciful sun, in the soul survival,
In the song inside of the wind, in a low surrender.
Trails To Mountain
Around here, it’s probably not your fault.
You found it - a random sign, I thought.
The sound of a spring in summertime.
I seen it - a sudden change of mind,
A feeling of understanding.
And travelling round, I felt -arriving somewhere else,
I finally find myself. It’s still surprising.
Is the singer home? Or late out, left alone?
A minor fall-out – I tried to call him.
We covered miles with ground-up dust on feet.
A ride to river stations and signs to nowhere,
Surrounded in forest fading light.
Abandoned trails to mountains.
A sound of peace and better times call by,
A sudden change of mind inside - it’s overwhelming
To finally find yourself seen as someone else.
The winds around all fell to new horizons.
Union Canal
In the miles, in the mornings,
On the line of the shore,
There's a signs to the moorings.
And they open the lock with a hammer
For the water to rise,
Never mind all the warnings,
They carry on through.
The rise and fall,
The wider world.
Later on, in the silence,
In reply to a call,
They're away to the island.
And I ride in a rush to the sidings
Where they write on the wall,
And I wait, undecided,
And what is it for?
A living world.
The 'Heart & Soul',
The 'Heart Of Gold'.
I'm alright if I only imagine
That we all get along.
Behind all the reeds, there's a heron.
Then it's up and it's gone.
And you're not going to see it forever
When the days are all done.
So we're off to The Swan and The Feathers,
And The Rising Sun.
Vegas
We're going to Vegas in the spring.
It's alright, if you like that kind of thing.
At first, you always win.
Velvets
I borrowed a record.
I still have it now.
'...Kansas City'
By The Velvet Underground.
Somewhere a singer
Is up on the stage,
Singing 'Sunday Morning'
And 'New Age'.
I think of faces
And the places we found,
And I know
There's a good time coming round.
Walden
A year alone – to find out what it means. A silent pond, a cabin in the trees. You find yourself avoiding company. There is no sense in glorifying greed.
The sounds of autumn carry on falling leaves.
It’s back to nature, simple as you can, trust the land – a new philosophy. A lone account of worth and what survives and how to live without society - a search for inner peace
‘Have no desires – take only what you need’. Well that’s alright for you, but tell that to John Field.
Far down, on hard ground -
In sunlight, a circle of life, heart in harmony, and lines around arise between.
You are yet to learn your primal worth is to contribute to community - and there’s your inner peace.
When the moment arrives, what if I come to find that I had not lived? Or hid it all in my mind?
I arrive home,
In the wild snow, to a cold room and a low moon.
As days grow dark, I watch the waters freeze. I miss my friends. I miss my family. I long to see you - I know now. You choose your path – well what’s it going to be? A different drum, wherever it may lead.
The joy of living in star-still nights.
Anyone could break in with a knife at any second but I, I’ve got nothing much to lose. With death before my eyes, I’d see a man who spent his days alone in some misguided search for truth.
What have you done that’s good?
